One of the things France and Western Europe have that is truly breathtaking are these old city gates. I've one one too many in Germany, the Holstentor for example and this does not fail to impress. These monuments tell alot about the old days of Europe and the grand castle age most of us dream about since childhood. This is the kind of stuff Arthurian fantasies are made of, despite the later period. Again the shot is marvelously executed, the empty street and lack of cars only adds further to the great age the overall composition carries. I just love it.
